Celebration of Learning Day for Year 3 on their "Discovery Unit" - Festivals of the World.
Throughout the week Year 3 have been preparing, gathering and recording the resources needed to set up their stall for a whole school celebration today.
There was a definite buzz of excitement in the air at school today as "Festivals of the World" day had finally arrived. Throughout the morning, excited Year 3 children set up their stalls in the playground, many were wishing that the cold wind would ease.
After lunch the stalls were all set up and ready for the influx of excited children all with their passports around their necks. At each stall the children had displayed a poster depicting their country and had an activity that would immerse children in the country's culture. As children went to each stall they had a hole punch put in their passport to indicate they had travelled through that country. Immersion activities included cuisine, dance, art, games, sport, language and culture.
What a great learning experience for all students at Star of the Sea and a great way for Year 3 to share their learning in a meaningful way! (Rich curriculum in a real world setting)
