Kindergarten English Block
This morning we spent the time viewing the Kindergarten English Block. The Kindergarten cohort consists of 63 students, 2 teachers and 2 TAs. The children begin the day in their own class to mark the roll. They then all come together to have their reading activities explained to them before they break into their cohort groups. Groups are structured according to gathered data which is taken from reading and writing assessments. Activities consisted of independent tasks, handwriting and guided reading.
The remainder of the English Block consisted of shared reading, shared writing and independent writing in class groups.
Thanks southern team. I like the photos but interested in your assessment of the effectiveness of the English block. What type of activities were they engaging in and how different were these to your own classes. The furniture certainly helps. That tiered seating looks fantastic and expensive. How engaged were the students? I wonder if you are now thinking just how you will take your learning back to your home school. How do you get some of this happening at home? Thanks for the post.
