Hi my name is Lyn Kenyon and I teach Stage 2 at St Joseph’s
at Alstonville. Over the years I have
taught in both State and Catholic schools. I have been at St Joseph’s since1996
and in that time I have held a number of executive positions and taught across all stage levels.
Last year our school launched
into the open classroom and Inquiry Learning approach to teaching and learning
which has been an exciting time and a great learning curve for staff and
children. I am one of three teachers in a class of 70 children.
I am excited
about my visit to Star of the Sea in Cleveland and looking forward to observing
how a school of the similar size operates on a daily basis.
In particular:
- timetabling
- flexible learning environments
- Innovative pedagogical practices
- child centred and innovative curriculum
- PLT/PLC meetings
- use of technology
- faith culture
- classroom and behavioural management
- assessing and reporting
Have a wonderful week Lyn; getting to see another school is a privilege and always brings positive growth in your own pedagogy! Enjoy being able to see things from the outside-in for a change and take plenty of notes and pictures of great things you observe. I will be interested in your thoughts to come...Cheers, Jen M
