Each classroom has a range of ICT available; net books, iPods, iPads, in easy to use recharging stations. There is not a device for each student, as the school wants to promote collaborative learning practices. Each learning space was purposely designed to have one short throw interactive whiteboard.
An extensive range of ICT Apps are being utilised by students across key learning areas. A periodic table of the Apps is available on the school's Twitter site. In the library area Digital Story cards are available for student use. QR codes have been linked to their artwork and the Aurasma App has been used to provide further information about their discovery learning projects.
Twitter is utilised by each classroom and regular feeds are provided to the Star of the Sea community detailing daily activities within the school environment.
In the library area, a space has been specifically set up as a sound hub where students can digitally record their learning.
The school's Moodle site has been the main source of communication for the community since their opening in 2009. Newsletters, parent information, regular updates, class home pages and homework are found on this site. In many classes we have seen Moodle pages set with daily learning and links to learning.
ICT is used to record evidence of children's learning through photographs, online digital portfolios /reporting. This evidence is used to inform further teaching.
Moodle is a great way to allow access to the learning program away from the classroom. Parents can access learning tasks to support students at any time.
